Dr. Teresa Erb

Dr. Teresa Erb is a member of the American Society of Reproductive Medicine (ASRM) and fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ACOG). She is board certified in obstetrics and gynecology and reproductive endocrinology and infertility. Dr. Erb has special expertise in the diagnosis and treatment of infertility and assisted reproductive technology. Her areas of clinical interest include fertility preservation, third party reproduction, human embryonic stem cell development and ethical considerations in reproductive care.

Dr. Erb serves clinics in Jacksonville, FL, at Baptist Downtown and Baptist South, and in Daytona Beach, FL

Dr. Erb received her medical degree from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. She completed her obstetrics and gynecology residency training at Magee-Women’s Hospital of UPMC where she then served as a clinical instructor in the Department of Obstetrics/ Gynecology Subspecialties Division (2006-2007).

While receiving her reproductive endocrinology and infertility fellowship training, also at Magee-Women’s Hospital of UPMC, Dr. Erb performed research in human embryonic stem cell development to trophectoderm (early placenta) for which she holds two patents. This work was presented at national meetings and is also published in highly respected peer reviewed journals. This background helped Dr. Erb understand the dynamic process of egg maturation, fertilization, and embryo development needed for patient care and effective communication in IVF.

During this time in her fellowship, Dr. Erb served as co-chair to the Fertility Preservation Options in Oncology Patients Committee (2007-2010) where her contributions included writing two institutional review board approved protocols for ovarian and testicular cryopreservation in cancer patients (including men, women, and children)and in patients who are about to undergo bone marrow transplantation. She also served as a member of the Ethics Committee for women and couples undergoing reproductive care (2007-2010).

After graduation from fellowship, Dr. Erb worked in private practice in Pittsburgh where she served as their director for third party reproduction. Maintaining the donor egg program required that Dr. Erb carry out a variety of clinical responsibilities including FDA SOP development, FDA inspections, donor selection and screening, establishing treatment protocols for donor stimulation and recipient preparation, and creation of a donor oocyte bank. Her clinical responsibilities in private practice included teaching medical endocrinology fellows as well as OB/GYN residents the intricacies of IVF.

Dr. Erb has been a contributing author in medical textbooks, has presented her research at numerous national and international meetings, and has published her research in several peer reviewed journals. She has also been a guest speaker at UPMC Shadyside Hospital Cancer Center, Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh, Magee-Women’s Hospital, and at the 3rd annual Hereditary Cancer Conference. Most of these lectures were focused on teaching physicians in multiple disciplines the importance of fertility preservation in men, women and children who are about to undergo medical treatments that will affect their reproductive health.

Her patients and colleagues throughout her career have noted Dr. Erb’s mild and calming demeanor and compassion. She is consistently described as thorough and thoughtful by her patients who are struggling with problems related to their reproductive health.

When she is not working, Dr. Erb loves to spend time with her husband and two girls, take long walks, read and travel.

Thank you for our daughter!

Dear Dr. Erb,

Happy Holidays! Hope you enjoyed time with your family. We have been doing well, our daughter is 2 years old and loves to swim, cook and play. She has become very independent and talkative.

We returned to RHS last fall, they followed your protocol that blessed us with our daughter. It worked again, until I developed a SCH and miscarried at 8 ½ weeks. I wish that we had your calmness and patience at that time. I remember after our IVF, with no mature eggs at retrieval, you told us that we would do better because we had to. Your confidence led us through that difficult time keeping your persistence as motivation, we just started another IVF cycle.

Thank you for our daughter! We are grateful for her and you every day. Have a great year!

Sincerely
