Our Embryologists / Andrologists

Five Doctoral level embryologists with over 50 years of combined experience

D. Yang, the director of our program, has been with the Florida Institute for Reproductive Medicine over the last seventeen years.  Dr. Yang has a Medical Doctorate from China, he is board certified by the American Board of Bioanalyst as a highly complex Lab Director (HCLD).  Dr. Yang has over 22 years experience as an Embryologist/Andrologist.  Dr. Yang is internationally known as one of the pioneers in the area of intracytoplasmic sperm injection as well as egg freezing.  Dr. Yang is responsible for the first baby born in the world to a cancer patient who froze her eggs.

X. Xiang is our embryology lab supervisor.  Dr. Xiang holds a PhD in Reproductive Biology from Arizona State University, as well as a Medical Doctorate Degree from China, she is board certified by the American Board of Bioanalyst as a highly complex Lab Director (HCLD).  Dr. Xiang has worked as a lab manager, senior embryologist, and technical supervisor since 2006.  Dr. Xiang’s area of research includes sperm/egg interaction, sperm chemotaxis and embryo development.  Dr. Xiang’s research papers are published in the National Academy of Science and Journal of Developmental Biology.

Y. Xu has a Medical Doctorate and PhD in the area of clinical pathophysiology in China.  Dr. Xu previously worked at the Mayo Clinic as a research fellow and instructor for over 9 years.  Dr. Xu is trained in sperm preparation, oocyte retrieval, fertilization, and embryo transfer at the Florida Institute for Reproductive Medicine.

F. Xue has a Masters and PhD in Regenerative Biology from the University of Connecticut.  Dr. Xue has extensive experience in all aspects of animal assisted reproduction.  She has a special interest in stem cell research as well as gene specific expression and functional regulation during embryonic pre-implantation development.

S. Li has a Masters and PhD in Pharmaceutical Science in Japan.  Dr. Li has worked at the Mayo Clinic for over 12 years in Cancer Cell Biology as a Senior Research Specialist.  Dr. Li has worked in human cell molecular biology including human cells and stem cell genomics DNA testing, DNA, RNA and protein extraction and analysis.

H. Schantz BS, MLS, CLT, MT has been our andrology/endocrinology lab supervisor over the last 9 years.  Heather received her Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Florida.  She completed her Medical Technology training in Jacksonville.  Heather has extensive clinical laboratory experience and is licensed by the State of Florida.

Care, Cost, Convenience

Infertility is a 7 day a week process. The Downtown Jacksonville center is open 7 days a week. Jacksonville and Daytona office hours are 7am – 4pm.
