Four Doctoral level embryologists with over 50 years of combined experience
The Florida Institute for Reproductive Medicine’s IVF lab team consists of four doctoral level embryologists, with over 50 years of combined experience. Our andrology/endocrinology lab is headed by a Bachelor of Science level medical technologist with over 14 years experience.
Dr. Yang, the director of our program has been with the Florida Institute for Reproductive Medicine over the last 15 years. Dr. Yang has over 20 years experience as an embryologist/andrologist. He is board certified by the American Board of Bioanalysis as a high complex lab director (HCLD). Dr. Yang is internationally known as one of the pioneers in the areas of intracytoplasmic sperm injection as well as egg freezing. Dr. Yang is responsible for the first baby born in the world to a cancer patient who froze her eggs.
Dr. Xiang is our embryology lab supervisor. She is board certified by the American Board of Bioanalysis as a high complex lab director. Dr. Xiang has worked as a lab manager, senior embryologist and technical supervisor since 2006. Dr. Xiang’s area of research includes sperm/egg interaction, sperm chemotaxis and embryo development. Dr. Xiang’s research papers are published in the National Academy of Science and Journal of Developmental Biology.
Dr. Liu has a Medical Doctorate as well as a Masters in clinical medicine. Dr. Liu has worked as a reproductive endocrinologist in China. She has worked in embryology for the last eight years. She has extensive experience in all aspects of embryology. Dr. Liu is also trained in andrology as well as endocrinology.
Dr. Men earned his PhD in animal science with an emphasis in reproductive physiology at the University of Wisconsin in 2002. Dr. Men has worked in the area of reproductive physiology with an emphasis on assisted reproductive technologies for over 20 years. He has extensive experience in embryology, cryobiology, micromanipulation and stem cell biology. Dr. Men has published numerous peer review publications. He has served on the editorial board of Theriogenology – An International Journal of Animal Reproduction.
Heather Schantz, BS, MLS. CLT. MT. has been our andrology/endocrinology lab supervisor over the last seven years. Heather received her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Florida. She completed her medical technology training in Jacksonville. Heather has extensive clinical laboratory experience and is licensed by the State of Florida.
