At Florida Institute of Reproductive Medicine, we are committed to utilizing the most advanced technology and medical procedures available today. Besides minimally-invasive surgeries such as hysteroscopy and laparoscopy, we are offer state-of-the-art da Vinci robotic-assisted surgeries for reproductive surgical procedures through our fellowship trained robotic surgeon, Dr. Travis W. McCoy. This surgical system provides unparalleled precision for even the most complex and delicate of gynecologic procedures. The addition of the da Vinci Surgical System adds yet another advanced technological procedure to our comprehensive list of services.

The da Vinci® Surgical System is an effective, minimally invasive alternative to both open surgery and laparoscopy. Performed through the smallest incisions, the robotic approach offers definitive treatment with the potential for significantly less pain, a shorter hospital stay, faster return to normal daily activities and potentially better clinical outcome.  During robot-assisted surgery, the surgeon’s hands control the instruments in the robot’s arms which can rotate in any direction. The surgeon sits at a console and performs the procedure using an enhanced, three-dimensional image. By contrast, standard laparoscopic surgery only allows the surgeon to see a two-dimensional image.

Robot-assisted surgery has all of the advantages of laparoscopic surgery — faster healing, less pain, fewer complications and less scarring — plus a three dimensional image and increased surgical control. This allows for nearly all procedures such that otherwise required open incisions to be performed laparoscopically. In addition, the more detailed precise nature of this technique can also be beneficial in other surgical settings.

Reproductive surgical procedures which can benefit from the use of the da Vinci® Surgical System include:
