Gestational surrogacy is offered through the Florida Institute for Reproductive Medicine.  It is among the most advanced and involved treatments available through any fertility center.  Gestational surrogacy is reserved for women who are unable to carry a pregnancy themselves.  During this process, the woman who wishes to become a parent has either her own eggs, or donor eggs, fertilized and then placed into the uterus of another woman who will carry the pregnancy for her. 

Gestational surrogacy involves creating legal contracts between the intended parents and the surrogate.  This is best performed by attorneys who have expertise in this area.  The F.I.R.M. is able to provide you with recommendations regarding well-qualified attorneys for this purpose.  In the State of Florida, a couple must be legally married to use a gestational surrogate.  It is the responsibility of the intended parents to find an appropriate surrogate. The physicians at the F.I.R.M. will evaluate her suitability.  The evaluation process also typically involves psychological interviews of the intended parents and surrogate.  These interviews are able to be conducted through our office.
